This week, ARRIS continued to make headlines in The Motley Fool with coverage of our positive financial momentum and bright future. A series of three articles included observations such as, “Arris operates in a market that's currently in flux: cable operators are looking to differentiate their products, Internet speeds are getting faster, and video delivery is being rethought. Arris is positioned to take advantage of all of these changes within the industry.” And “ARRIS positive momentum is not just about short-term improvements in demand. This is a long-term trend, and Arris appears to be gaining market share against its competitors.”
Some of the industry changes were reported by Advanced Television, which shared data from the Interactive Advertising Bureau showing 52 million adult Americans watch online video at least once a month, preferring original digital programming to news, sports and daytime TV. However, Broadband Technology Report highlighted the changing way consumers access content, revealing that in the first quarter of 2014 the amount of online video consumed on a TV increased, while online viewing on PCs declined.
Separately, Multichannel News noted that those in the U.S. who qualify as cord-cutters make up 72% of streaming share, averaging 100 hours of streaming per month.
Finally, Digital TV Europe shared that global digital TV penetration will reach 97.9% of TV households in 2020, up from 67.7% this year.
