South Korea has one of the world’s most active telecommunications and technology markets in the world, thanks to the government’s recent investment in transforming the country into a knowledge-based information society. In South Korea’s bid to usher its citizens into a new “smart-age,” its Ministry of Science, ICT and Future Planning is focusing specifically on delivering what it terms “Giga Internet.” That goal aligns very closely with ARRIS’s vision for next-generation broadband and networking, which we showcased this week at KCTA in Seoul.

The centerpiece of our vision for gigabit networking is our ARRIS E6000® Converged Edge Router. It is the industry’s leading CCAP solution, providing service to millions of consumers via the world’s leading service providers, including recently announced expansions with LG U+, which demonstrated broadband speeds of approximately 1.8Gbps using DOCSIS® 3.1.  This level of gigabit broadband speed is quickly becoming the norm for global leaders responding to growing consumer demand for advanced entertainment services like Ultra HD and multiscreen.

And as a testament to ARRIS’s global leadership in the new Gigabit Age, the minister of communications in Korea presented our own Kent Sun, senior manager of sales engineering, with a recognition award last week, for his contributions to growth of Korea’s cable TV market. Congratulations, Kent.
