This week, FierceCable covered Infonetics Research’s latest quarterly report, which found that shipments of DOCSIS channels rose 114 percent last year to a record 4.8 million, with ARRIS capturing 48 percent of the cable broadband market.
Separately, The Australian Financial Review included additional comments from NBN Co chief executive Bill Morrow on the recently announced deal with ARRIS to upgrade the Telstra and Optus cable networks. Morrow noted that NBN Co had been doing trials on its HFC networks and had seen speeds of 376 megabits per second download and 49 megabits per second upload.
In other industry news, Advanced Television reported study results from Strategy Analytics, which found that demand for Ultra HD TVs has increased dramatically as price points have dropped and model availability has expanded.
A number of outlets, including Bloomberg, covered Italy’s approval of a €6 billion ($6.7 billion) plan to boost high-speed networks throughout the country.
Finally, USA Today noted that all of the major TV networks have some kind of TV Everywhere offering and included a comparison of each.
