Light Reading reported that CableLabs® has opened product certification for DOCSIS 3.1 equipment, paving the way toward DOCSIS 3.1 deployment.

Rapid TV News reported that DIRECTV launched the 4K Genie Mini to expand 4K access to more customers nationwide.

A Dataxis study estimated that in 2018, there will be a total of 135.5 million digital, 120.9 million HD, 58.5 million connected and 1.3 million 4K installed TV sets in the five largest Latin American countries (Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Columbia, and Mexico), according to IP & TV News.

This week, Multichannel News revealed a survey from S3 Group showing that pay TV operators are speeding up multiscreen TV software releases. Of the nearly 30 operators surveyed in the U.S., nearly half boosted the number of software releases by more than 20% in 2015.

Finally, Media Post disclosed that 45% of TVs sold in the U.S. are now connected TVs—up from 34% a year ago and 24% two years ago.
